   conspirator
   Born in Kerléano, near Auray, Georges Cadoudal fought in the war of the vendée and was one of the leaders of the chouannerie. He took refuge in London in 1800 and was named lieutenant general by the count of artois. Cadoudal organized two plots against Napoléon Bonaparte: on December 24, 1800, a bomb exploded on the rue saint-Nicaise near Bonaparte, who was on his way to the Opéra. Bonaparte escaped injury, but 22 others were killed. The second plot (1803), in complicity with General charles pichegru, was foiled, and Cadoudal was arrested and then executed on June 25, 1804.
